From Post Commander David Lange

The new legion year has started and I’m glad to report it has stated on a very positive note.

Many thanks to Fran and Greg Guichard for their outstanding work in beatifying the World War II Honor roll in front of the post. Also many thanks to Don Shriver, Jack Daelhousen and the boy scouts from troop 131 for preparing the honor roll grounds.

Gary Carvella and I recently attended the SWCS awards ceremony and presented our annual Lakewood American Legion Past commanders memorial awards to 6 students who attended boy state last summer.

This is my final newsletter as your commander, I would like to thank everyone for their support over the past year and would hope that every member of this post continue to support their new officers our veterans and our Legion programs.

This Year’s Memorial Day we are the Host post this year, so we will need many volunteers leading up to Memorial Day. To include helping us in spring cleaning inside and outside the post, volunteering with yard work as well as helping out in the kitchen the day of Memorial Day.

It has been brought to my attention that there are members of the Sons and Auxiliary who have sent in their renewal money but have not received a new membership card. If you are one of those, please contact the SAL commander Al Chapman or Auxiliary President Sue Chapman at (716) 763-9249

Dues reminder :

To all our members that have not renewed their dues before the end of 2015. It is now $42 to renew your 2016 dues. We didn’t want to increase our dues but we would not break even after the increases made by State and National over the past couple years.
